Artistic Practice

Isabella Aurelia is a multidisciplinary contemporary ritual artist. Harp, voice, breath, movement, prayer, meditation, writing, and visual art become different media within one unified practice—composed as quiet occasions for attention, encounter, and presence.

Philosophy

Rituals of gratitude for all life and existence.

Through breath, quiet sound, prayer, movement, and silence, Isabella explores gratitude as an artistic way of relating to the body, the Earth, the ocean, consciousness, and the larger living whole. Her work holds open the possibility that the questions beneath art, science, philosophy, medicine, and religion may be more closely related than their categories suggest.

About Isabella

A practice shaped by attention.

For many years, Isabella’s contemporary art traced the source of the universe and the primordial energy of life. Her practice is now evolving from object-centred art toward lived ritual, sound, consciousness, and ways of being.

Now five years beyond young-onset cancer, she carries a deeper attentiveness to mortality, the body, and the fragile luminosity of being alive. This experience is not the subject of her work, but a quiet origin for its continued exploration of life and gratitude.
